Kids and families will also learn about the history of sustainability in fashion and upcycling waste with handy tips to incorporate this thinking and making into their everyday life.Kids and Families will receive upcycled denim garments lovingly hand-dyed by Gary Bigeni in his bold signature colourful style. Bigeni’s slow hand dyeing techniques achieve brilliant colours that are ready to wear. Each piece is painted separately, creating an original work of art on each garment.
In this workshop, kids and families will work together to re-work an existing singular denim garment into multiple headpieces, jacket flowers, necklaces, wrist-cuffs and boot covers. Sally and Gary will teach a range of fringing, studding and other textile manipulation techniques to create a series of small pieces to embellish your outfit for World Pride. Kids and families will also learn about the history of sustainability in fashion and upcycling waste with handy tips to incorporate this thinking and making into their everyday life.
Of course, no workshop is complete without the necessary catwalk and photoshoot to proudly display your creations with friends.
