nurosynk

Nurosynk is an electronic experimental duo consisting of two
classically trained queer composers performing on amplified cellos,
vocals and effects.

An abundance of diversity exists in our queer world. Nurosynk have
prepared an all new intimate performance reflecting on sexuality, kink
and identity using a neuroqueerious lens. For this performance we’re
drawing from deeply personal lived experience to compose eclectic
songs, a couple of multimedia compositions, and instrumental pieces.
This “world premiere” combines scored and improvised approaches that
we’ve developed together. A couple of weeks after this event, we’ll be
laying the tracks at City of Sydney Creative Studios (managed by Brand
X) for digital release.

We are queer contemporary classical composers performing on cellos,
vocals, synths, and percussion. After unexpectedly bumping into one
another at a queer fetish event, we formed our band in 2021 with
performances at local bars, the Sydney Fringe, a residency at BrandX
producing our album “Oracle” and a surround sound performance for Red
Rattler. All of our work together has been semi-improvised or fully
improvised to date (check out our nurosynk.bandcamp.com). We’re both
composition graduates from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (though
that was over a decade ago now…) and our sound-world comes from a
diverse array of genres.
