Peter Maloney – Fugitive Text

Sat 4 - Mon 6 Mar | 7 hours Utopia Art Sydney

Fugitive Text draw on Peter Maloney’s experience of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, as a HIV-positive person who lost most of his social group during the 1980s and early 1990s.

The artworks in Fugitive Text draw on Peter’s experience of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, as a HIV-positive person who lost most of his social group during the 1980s and early 1990s.
The artworks draw on photography’s specific relationship to memory, time and place, reportage, power relations and testimony. The memories suggested by these works are those of someone remembering love and loss – friends and lovers lost to HIV/AIDS, and the moments of desire, risk and sensation that in a way mark the queer experience of time and space.

Book Launch of Fugitive Text on March 4th. Mark Bayly will be speaking at 4pm to celebrate the launch!
