The Lies We Were Told

Tue 21 - Thu 23 Feb | 1 hour 5 minutes ARA Darling Quarter Theatre

“You don’t stop laughing because you grow older. You grow older because you stop laughing.” Maurice Chevalier

We grow up being lied to. Often for good reasons – so we can believe in something magical, to believe we can be whoever we want to be, or to shield us from pain.

This is about those moments. When a lie is revealed and the truth is revealed and in that moment something is discovered, something that will change you forever, something that cannot be unlearnt. From global conspiracies to childhood memories to the most personal moments of all. This is how we grow up. This is life!

Directed by Shopfront’s Creative Director, Natalie Rose.

Reviews

I was so impressed by the commitment of all these young people [...] this show gives room for it all. I couldn’t help but smile as I left the theatre. Theatre Thoughts Australia

Natalie Rose and the team at Shopfront do a fabulous job at nurturing the next generation of young artists, giving them a space to have a voice and share their unique and very valid perspectives on the world. ATYP

Rose really is good at this as she appeals to the highly for anyone who has been lied to and, as they say, “isn’t that all of us?” Reviews by Judith
